i recently received an e-mail from the couple i will be working with in bitburg, john and shannon. i'm really excited about what they are getting set up for me. i just hope i am able to be there soon.
the e-mail was super informative but instead of copying and pasting all of it in here i decided i would give y'all bits at a time, to keep it interesting. so i decided to start with the part of the e-mail about bitburg itself.
"The area here is absolutely beautiful, it is very country with small towns throughout the area. Bitburg is a larger town but not huge and we have a larger city called Trier about 30 minutes from here. Trier is awesome and Shannon loves taking girls there to go shopping. Trier is the oldest city in Germany and it once was the northern gateway to the Roman Empire so there is plenty of history in this area. Not to mention that the "Battle of the Bulge" (Famous WWII battle depicted in the series "Band of Brothers") was fought in this area as well. I was a history major so I think these kinds of things are really cool."
